Ingredients
Scale:
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon sea salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
4 large Russet potatoes (or sweet potatoes)
Vegetable oil for frying or coating
Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Fresh herbs (like parsley or cilantro) (optional)
Chili powder (optional)
Instructions
Wash and peel the potatoes if desired. Cut them into even sticks, about 1/4 inch thick.
Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes.
In a medium bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, sea salt, black pepper, oregano, thyme, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with paper towels.
For frying, heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.
For baking, preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss the dried potatoes with vegetable oil and bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
While the fries are still hot, sprinkle the seasoning generously over them and toss to coat evenly.
