1 French baguette, sliced into ¼-inch thick rounds (about 20 slices)
3 tablespoons olive oil
Salt, to taste
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
8 ounces smoked salmon, sliced
Capers, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap.
Drizzle the olive oil over the slices, using a brush or your fingers to ensure they are evenly coated. Sprinkle lightly with salt.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and crispy. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly on a wire rack.
In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, lemon juice, chopped dill, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth and creamy.
Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture onto each crostini. Top each one with a slice of smoked salmon, arranging it attractively.
For an extra touch, place a caper on top of each smoked salmon slice, if using, and sprinkle with additional fresh dill.
Serve the Smoked Salmon Crostini immediately while the crostini are still crisp.
