A delicious and quick dinner option, this savory dish combines tender beef with bell peppers and onions, all enveloped in a rich homemade stir fry sauce.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 medium onion, sliced
1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 inch fresh ginger, grated
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon honey or sugar
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1 tablespoon water
3 cups cooked white or brown rice
Chopped green onions, for garnish
Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for about 15-20 minutes at room temperature.
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, honey, crushed red pepper flakes, and water. Set aside.
Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add vegetable oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer and sear for about 2-3 minutes until browned.
Push the beef to the side of the skillet. Add sesame oil, then toss in the sliced onions, bell pepper, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and vegetables. Stir well to combine and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
While the beef is cooking, prepare your rice according to package instructions. Fluff with a fork before serving.
Serve the pepper steak over a bed of rice. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
