  1. In a large bowl, whisk together all the dry ingredients: flour, salt, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, thyme, basil, oregano, and cayenne pepper.
  2. In another bowl, combine the buttermilk and egg. Whisk until well blended.
  3. Take your chicken pieces and immerse them in the buttermilk mixture. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat to about 350°F (175°C).
