Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball.
  3. Let the dough cool for a few minutes, then add 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a large pot or deep fryer, heat about 4 cups of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped tip. Pipe 4-6 inch long strips directly into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors.
  6. Fry the churros for about 2-4 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until golden brown.
  7. In a separate bowl, mix 1/2 cup of granulated sugar with 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon. Roll warm churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  8. Serve the churros warm, optionally with chocolate sauce for dipping.
