  1. Start by preparing your ingredients. Wash and slice the vegetables as needed.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard to create a flavorful spread.
  3. Lay the two slices of bread on a clean surface. Spread the mayonnaise mixture on one side of each slice.
  4. On one slice of bread, layer the turkey slices evenly.
  5. Add the cheese slice on top of the turkey. If using optional toppings like avocado or spinach, layer them on next.
  6. Season with salt and pepper and add any additional toppings.
  7. Top with the second slice of bread, mayonnaise side down. Press down gently to help the sandwich hold together.
  8. If you prefer a warm sandwich, heat a skillet over medium heat and grill the sandwich for 2-3 minutes per side.
