- 1 pound ground beef (preferably 80% lean)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 2/3 cup water
- 8 taco shells (hard or soft)
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup salsa
- Optional: sliced jalapeños, avocado, or cilantro
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned.
- Stir in the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the beef mixture. Pour in the water and stir to combine. Let simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Preheat the oven (if using hard shells) according to package instructions. Warm the taco shells in the oven for about 5 minutes.
- Spoon the beef mixture into each taco shell, filling them generously.
- Top each taco with your favorite toppings including lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and salsa.
- Serve immediately while warm, allowing everyone to customize their tacos.
