Caesar salad is a timeless classic that complements any meal or stands alone as a nutritious dish. With its crisp romaine lettuce, creamy dressing, and crunchy garlic croutons, it’s no wonder this salad has earned its place as a favorite in kitchens around the world.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 large head of romaine lettuce, cleaned and torn into bite-sized pieces
½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup homemade garlic croutons
¼ cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1-2 anchovy fillets, finely chopped (optional)
1 clove garlic, minced
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut 2-3 slices of day-old bread into cubes. Toss the bread cubes with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and a pinch of salt. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Set aside to cool.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, fresh lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, anchovies (if using), minced garlic, black pepper, and salt. Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while whisking until the dressing is smooth and creamy.
In a large salad bowl, add the torn romaine lettuce. Drizzle the homemade Caesar dressing over the lettuce and toss gently to coat the leaves evenly.
Add the grated Parmesan cheese and homemade croutons on top of the salad. Give it another light toss to incorporate without bruising the lettuce.
Serve the salad immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
