A mouthwatering meal that perfectly balances savory and sweet flavors, featuring a juicy chicken patty coated in a crunchy fried crust, drizzled with a homemade hot honey sauce.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
Vegetable oil, for frying
4 burger buns
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the chicken thighs and buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
In a deep skillet or frying pan, pour in enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom by about 1/2 inch. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
Carefully place the coated chicken thighs in the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the honey, crushed red pepper flakes, apple cider vinegar, and salt. Stir until well combined and simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
Toast the burger buns lightly. On the bottom bun, layer the fried chicken, drizzle with hot honey sauce, and top with coleslaw, pickles, and leafy greens. Finish with the top bun.
